The Education Bursary 2026 is now officially closed. This year, a total of 26 residents submitted applications, reflecting strong engagement and interest across all TORC communities.
All applications have been reviewed for completeness and have now been forwarded to the TORC Judging Panel for assessment. Each applicant will be contacted directly in the coming weeks and informed whether their submission has been successful or unsuccessful.

Fota Island Wildlife Tour for Macroom, Skibbereen, Clonakilty & Waterford
Fota Wildlife Park Tour
A big thank you to all the residents from our three schemes in Cork and Waterford who joined us for a fantastic day out at Fota Wildlife Park.
The educational tour was truly engaging, we learned so much about the park’s conservation efforts and the incredible animals cared for there.
With the sun shining, residents enjoyed a wonderful day together. Party bags and ice creams were handed out, and everyone headed home happy after a fun and memorable experience.

End of school- Sport’s Day in Clane
The Cluain Ailbhe Residents Association recently hosted a fantastic Sports Day to celebrate the end of the school year. It was a brilliant afternoon filled with energy, fun, and community spirit, with families and neighbours coming together to enjoy a range of activities and games.
Children and adults alike took part, making it a lively and memorable event that marked the start of summer in the best possible way. A big thank‑you to everyone who joined in and helped make the day such a success

🌟 Budget Meals Competition – Congratulations to All Participants! 🌟
A huge well done to everyone who entered our Budget Meals Competition. The level of creativity, effort, and thought that went into each dish was truly outstanding. From clever ingredient choices to beautifully presented meals, the entries showcased just how inventive and budget‑savvy our residents can be. It was inspiring to see so many nutritious, affordable meals created with such care.
We received some fantastic submissions this year, and the judging panel had a very tough job narrowing it down — but as always, we could only select one winner.
👏 A massive congratulations to Zydrune in Galway, who has been chosen as this year’s winner! Your prize will be sent to you in the post, and we hope you enjoy it.
Thank you to everyone who took part and shared your brilliant budget‑friendly ideas. Your participation helps strengthen our community spirit and encourages others to get creative in the kitchen.

Hodson Bay Activity Centre Event for Roscommon, Galway & Clane
TORC would like to gauge interest from residents in Clane, Roscommon & Galway in attending a Watersports Day at Hodson Bay Activity Centre, Athlone, on Wednesday 26th August.
The day will include:
1 hour Kayaking
1 hour in the Water Park

We recently held a Paediatric First Aid Training workshop in Shannon, giving parents, carers and childcare professionals the chance to build essential, confidence‑boosting skills for responding to emergencies involving infants and children.
The three‑hour, instructor‑led session covered practical techniques such as managing common accidents, recognising signs of serious illness, and performing CPR or clearing airways before professional help arrives. It was a hands‑on, informative afternoon designed to support families and strengthen safety awareness across the community.

Drone use advisory
🚁 Drone Use Advisory – Protecting Privacy in Our Community
We’re reminding all residents to be mindful when operating drones in and around our neighbourhoods. While drones can be great for hobbies and outdoor activities, it’s important to ensure they’re used safely and respectfully.
Please avoid flying drones over private homes or gardens, as this can raise serious privacy and data protection concerns. Even brief recordings of individuals or identifiable property may fall under GDPR and Irish data protection requirements.
We ask everyone to operate drones only in permitted areas, follow all aviation and privacy regulations, and handle any footage responsibly.

TORC Annual Unit inspections 2026
Each year, TORC carries out an annual inspection on each of our 465 properties to ensure that we provide safe, efficient, durable, comfortable and sustainable homes for our tenants. The 2026 house inspections begin next month in April and all schemes will be completed by August. Some important information to remember:
TORC will give a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice by letter to let you know the date and time-frame of your inspection.
If you are not going to be home or need a specific time for an appointment, please let us know in advance of your inspection.
HSCOs understand your home is where you live, we do not expect to walk into showrooms.
During the inspection a members of TORC staff may take pictures – these are used as a visual record of the condition of the property over the lifecycle of your home. They are also used to assist with logging any repairs.
Where a person is under 18 and is at home alone, we cannot complete an inspection without your previous permission/consent.

From budgeting and reusing supplies to checking uniform options and finding second‑hand books, small changes can make a real difference.
