Welcome to the February edition of the TORC News bulletin. Over the past few weeks, I have been busy planning the annual calendar of tenant engagement events. There are some exciting initiatives coming up, but I want to hear from YOU! – what events and initiatives do you want to see on your scheme? Let me know by completing the short survey below under ‘Latest News’.
This month you can sign up to the Spring edition of the online Bingo (the valentine’s edition is full!), enter the ‘Home is where the heart is’ photo competition and register for the seminar on reducing childhood anxiety.
Annual Plan for Events, Initiatives & Resident Groups
Throughout the year there will be a selection of training, competitions and events organised by our Tenant Engagement Officer Bethany for all TORC schemes to get involved it. We have also created a draft annual plan of events that will take place on each scheme. However, it’s important that we hear from you about what you would like. Please take a few minutes to complete the short survey below:
This year we are hoping that a resident group in each scheme will come together to organise at least one community event. The table below shows some ideas we had for each scheme – the events highlighted in yellow are the ones we propose that residents come together to organise, otherwise they will not be able to go ahead. TEO Bethany will be in touch with residents from each scheme to help plan and fund these events.
Heating System Demonstrations – Update
Last month we offered residents the opportunity to register for a one-to-one heating System demonstration. 18 residents registered and their details were passed over to the Repair team’s Technical Advisor to complete the demonstrations. Most demonstrations have now been completed. One resident provided feedback to the TEO to say that this initiative had made a very positive impact on their ability to manage their home.

3/ Photo Competition – ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’
Be in with a chance of winning a €50 Just Eat voucher (there are 5 up for grabs) by participating into this photo competition. To enter, simply submit a photo on the theme of ‘Home is Where the heart Is‘.
We would love to see photos that show how your home has come to life since you have moved in. Maybe for you the ‘heart’ in your home is who is in it – family, friends, visitors, or pets, or perhaps home to you is your community and new neighbours or maybe it’s your creative redecoration of a room, your garden design or a family event/celebration in your new home? Get creative!
Send the photo by email to email@example.com. Remember to include your name, address, and a few words about your photo. Make sure you have permission of anyone in the photo to share it.
Deadline is February 28th at 5pm
4/ TORC Top Tips for Tenants
Condensation affects a large proportion of households in Ireland, particularly during the cold Winter months. While it is mostly harmless, if your windows aren’t maintained, the moisture could develop into dangerous mould that can cause health issues like asthma, eczema, and bronchitis.
If you have noticed condensation on your windows – try this month’s top tips to combat it. You could also purchase a Hygrometer (humidity thermometer) which will tell you if your home is too ‘wet’, or use a ‘Window Vacuum’ to suck away moisture from windows.
