Application Process

The TORC Foundation Education Bursary closed for applications at the end of August and we received a total of 23 applications. The Tenant Engagement Officer went through the process of shortlisting candidates that fulfilled the Terms and Conditions of the Bursary. Some of the main conditions of the bursary is that applicants must not be in receipt of other funding and must be applying for fees and not expenses. The shortlisted applications were then sent to the Education Bursary Panel. The Panel is made up of 5 people, 3 of whom are independent from TORC. They used a marking rubric to grade each application and then met to discuss and collate the grades of each application.

Impact

Funding from the Education Bursary has the potential to change the lives of TORC residents and support them in their careers. Reka from Cork outlines what the funding for her Business Administration course meant to her:

The bursary provided financial stability, alleviating the significant burden of tuition and related expenses. This support allowed me to fully concentrate on my studies, without the constant worry of financial constraints. As a result, I was able to dedicate more time and energy to my coursework and academic pursuits…Moreover, pursuing my course has equipped me with valuable skills and knowledge relevant in my chosen field. These skills  not only enhance my academic growth but are also preparing me for future career opportunities” Reka, Cork

The [TORC Bursary Application] process was very easy and took away the financial burden of course fees. I would not have been able to do this without TORC and for that I am grateful” Kirsty, Cork
